Long the county seat of Granite County, Philipsburg has a rich history in mining and ranching. Today it is a delightful little town of about 900 residents that is a fun place to visit. The roots of the area started as a booming mining town in the late 1800's and it's historic downtown is full of beautifully restored buildings from that era.
Today these buildings are full of friendly shops, saloons, and other unique establishments like the Sweet Palace, a magnificent candy store packed full of delightful confections. The town was recently chosen by The National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations.
